New Mexico: Best skiing of the year. Resorts extend season

Ski New Mexico announces EXTENSIONS

Skiing in New Mexico is the best it has been all year.  The snow is great, the days are longer, and the sun makes for warm days.   All of the resorts are receiving new major snow falls every other day.  The public response to the outstanding conditions has helped the resorts to extend their closing dates and hours of operation.  There is still about a month of great skiing remaining. Now is the time to get out and enjoy the best skiing of the season.  

 

Resort Updates: 

1. )SANDIA PEAK SKI AREA:

Sandia Peak Ski Area will once again be extending the 2009-2010 season through March 28, 2010. 14” inches of new snow overnight and a 79” inch base has provided the best skiing and riding conditions at Sandia Peak in years. The area will be open Wednesday March 24 through March 28 for the “final week of skiing and riding for the 2009-10 season”.

Bring your “Peak Plus Card” and enjoy the best snow in years at a great discount.

All facilities will be open including the Double Eagle II Cafeteria, Snow Sports School, Cubby Corner Children’s Facility, Rental Shop and Wintermill Sports Shop.

Open Wednesday through Sunday March 24 – 28, 2010

AM Half Day – 9AM to 12:30PM, PM Half Day -12:30PM to 4PM

2. )SKI SANTA FE EXTENDING 2009-2010 SEASON

The Skiing and boarding is so spectacular that conditions demand that we extend the season an additional week to April 11th.  “The string of storms from El Nino has put the snow pack at over 126 inches and we just have to keep going”.

Spring Hours of Operation for Ski Santa Fe

Spring Hours of operation for skiing and boarding at Ski Santa Fe begin on Monday, March 22nd 2010 through closing day April 11th, 2010.  Chair lifts will open at 9:30am and close at 4:30pm.

The Ticket, Rental, Snow Sports School, Wintermill Sports Shop and Skier Services will open at 8:30am. Half day - 9:30am to 1:00pm or 1:00pm to 4:30pm.

Lifts accessing the upper mountain, the Millennium and Tesuque Peak Triple chairlifts, will close at 4:15PM and the lower mountain lifts will close at 4:30pm. 

All facilities will be open including Snow Sports School, Chipmunk Corner Children’s Center, La Casa Cafeteria (indoors), Totemoff’s Bar, the Wintermill Sports Shop and Rental Shop.  

Ski Santa Fe has a 126 base and the days are beautiful.  Come up and enjoy the winter sun

Day light saving time has made the afternoons the time to ski.

 

3.) SIPAPU SKI AND SUMMER RESORT TO EXPAND OPERATING HOURS


On pace for yet another record-breaking season, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, New Mexico’s year-round destination for family-friendly, family fun, announced it will expand its lift operating hours beginning March 14 through the end of the season.

From March 14-21 and again March 27-28, lifts will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., giving snow enthusiasts an extra hour every afternoon on the slopes.

Sipapu will continue to offer expanded afternoon hours through the rest of the season: from March 22-26 and April 3 until closing day (scheduled for April 11), lift operations will go from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The full-service rental shop and ticket office will open at 8:30 a.m. on March 14-21 and March 27-28; the rental shop and ticket office will resume their normal 8 a.m. opening time March 22-26 and April 3 until closing day.

The general store and Riverside Café will maintain their regular business hours: the general store opens at 8 a.m., and the Riverside Café opens at 7:30 a.m.

March 28 marks the end of daily operations for Sipapu – the resort will be open weekends only beginning April 3.

Sipapu is scheduled to again be the last resort to close in New Mexico, with closing date set for April 11 (weather and conditions permitting – visitors are encouraged to check www.SipapuNM.com for the latest updates).

Lift tickets are $39 for adults (ages 20-59), $34 for teens (ages 13-19), $29 for kids (ages 7-12) and seniors (ages 60-69). Beginning March 22, lift tickets are just $25 for adults and teens, and $10 for kids and seniors. Fourth graders (proof, such as report cards, are required), kids ages six and younger, guests who are 40 years old, and seniors 70 or better ski and ride free everyday at Sipapu.
