An unlikely wanderer

In 1998, with no qualifications other than a traveler’s eye and a knack for telling a tale, I traded a secure academic career for the wild blue yonder and a new life as an independent travel writer and photographer.

From a handful of assignments to hundreds of adventures spanning the globe, I turned a passion for exploration into a creative life inspired by a commitment to exploration.

Today, after 15 years in media production for travel and tourism, I work remotely as an independent web services provider and content manager.

I am based in New Mexico, but as an avid long-term traveler, I am as likely to be logging in from Peru or Portugal as from home.

I recently released my first book, I Could Live Here: A Travel Memoir of Home and Belonging.

When I’m not discovering a new place, writing, or creating, you'll find me reading, geeking out about cool design and local artisans, researching my latest curiosity, or daydreaming in a hammock.

In 2009, I launched the group travel blog YourLifeIsATrip.com together with travel journalist Judith Fein on the belief that other travelers shared our desire to read about real people writing about real life. No top ten lists. No superficial content. Just authentic experiences. Today, we're the go-to website for experiential storytelling and narrative travel writing with hundreds of writers worldwide and each story as unique and original as the people behind them.
