ESCAPE WINTER CHILL WITH GREEN SEASON BOTSWANA SAFARI
Save up to 30% on this 6-night Green Season safari, with rates starting at $3,400 per person including accommodations, domestic flights, meals, game drives and more
Extraordinary Journeys Africa, specialists in luxury bespoke safaris to Africa, is offering an opportunity to trade in the winter chill for an escape to Botswana from November 2012 to March 2013.
During this 6-night safari, visitors will experience breath-taking green landscapes, thousands of animals in the wild caring for their newborn young and millions of birds migrating. With about an hour of rain each day, this “green season” typically attracts fewer tourists, which means a more intimate experience and warm temperatures all at rates that are 30% lower than their peak.
Pricing for this adventure is $3,400 per person for a 6-night stay in Botswana for travel between November 10, 2012 and March 20, 2013*. To receive a quote for dates between December 20, 2012 and January 10, 2013, please contact Extraordinary Journeys.
A 50% discount is available for children 6 to 14 sharing a family room with parents, making this a great option for a family trip over the upcoming holiday and February school breaks. For more information, please visit www.ejafrica.com.
This itinerary begins with a 3-night stay at the Little Vumbura Camp, situated on an island oasis in the ancient Okavango forest. Surrounded by ebony, marula, knobthorn, garcinia and fig trees, Little Vumbura has a tropical feel that attracts elephants onto the island, particularly towards the end of winter.
The island boasts both wetland and savannah species of wildlife roaming the open plains. While at camp, visitors can chose from a number of activities including boat and mokoro rides, walks, drives and fishing. Guests can go out by boat in the morning and see hippo, crocodile, red lechwe and all the aquatic wildlife – and then travel out by Land Rover in the afternoon to see elephant, sable and all the dry savannah game.
Game drives are conducted in an open four-by-four with an experienced guide and can also be done at night nearly all year round.
The second half of this itinerary brings guests to the Linyanti Reserve in northwestern Botswana, a short flight from the Okavango Delta.
Accommodations at the Duma Tau Camp for the next three nights include large, luxurious rooms with canvas walls set under thatch, creating the perfect ambience to enjoy the sounds of Africa from bed. The property is built under a shady grove of mangosteen trees overlooking a large hippo-filled lagoon within the Linyanti waterway system.
Broad ranges of wildlife, from elephants to giraffe and baboons to hyena, call the reserve’s 308,880 acres home. Africa’s full spectrum of diurnal and nocturnal creatures can be spotted on day and night-time game drives. Guests may also come face-to-face with lions in the Savute area, famous for its lion population.
