Cruceros Australis of Santiago, Chile has officially opened their 2008-2009 season, offering expedition cruises to some of the most beautiful and rarely explored regions of the world. Travel to Tierra del Fuego in Southern Argentina and sail the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel to see some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery and wildlife. Cruises run September through April each year with three night or four night one-way itineraries, or combine them into a seven night round trip cruise.

Currently running the ships “Mare Australis” and “Via Australis”, Cruceros Australis navigates between the Argentine city of Ushuaia (the southernmost in the world) and the Chilean city of Punta Arenas, including the Strait of Magellan, and the Beagle Channel in the extreme south of the American continent. Cruceros Australis will also introduce “Stella Australis” for the 2010 - 2011 season, a new expedition cruise ship that will be added to the fleet celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Cruceros Australis offers one of the most unique cruising experiences in the industry. Cruise through magnificent icebergs, visit with elephant seals and Magellan penguins, observe ice calving, and  visit  Cape Horn, the last headland before arriving in Antarctica. The trip includes daily excursions in Zodiac boats, directed by the multilingual expedition team, complemented by cultural lectures about the natural surroundings. The cruise is “all-inclusive”:  breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an open bar for wine, beer, liquor and other beverages. The menu combines international cuisine and local recipes, which allows the discovery of the delicious and varied regional foods, accompanied by Chilean and Argentine wines.
